REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: 12/27/99 <br />ITEM No: F -1 <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />�ipL� Reports Recommendations <br />Item Description: Authorization to Accept Electrical Bid and to Reject the Carpentry Supply <br />Bid, to Approve the Alternative carpentry Supply Order and to Authorize <br />Removal of the Acorn Park Building. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the December 15, 1999 meeting, the City Council approved the acceptance of bids for the <br />Acorn and Evergreen Park Buildings and the JC Shelter Replacement with the exception that <br />the Electrical section was authorized to be rebid. The bids were advertised and opened on <br />Monday, December 27, 1999 and received as follows: <br />Lv <br />F.i i I 7 i <br />Qac� Opc�d <br />Bc��f�P �l �I 10 <br />As As part of the process for preparing contracts, the Construction Manager discovered that the <br />bidders for the Carpentry Supply section did not comply with the bidding requirements and <br />therefore must be rejected. The City Attorney has advised, that because there are three <br />distinct sites for the 3 projects and that each are estimated to be less than $25,000 that the <br />Carpentry Supply section prices may be obtained by written quotes for each project. These <br />quotes will be available for approval at the meeting. <br />The other item requested to be authorized is the demolition of the current Acorn Park building <br />at a cost of $5, obo. <br />FINAN IMPLICATION <br />The cost of the replacement of these structures is included in the Recreation Facilities Fund <br />and the amount of the project will be no greater or less than the amount approved at the <br />December 1 5, '1999 meeting for these three projects. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion authorizing the City Manager to accept the low qualified bid for the Electrical section <br />and to reject the bids for the Carpentry Supply section because the bids do not comply with <br />the advertised requirements and to accept the written q uotes for each of the three p raj ects for <br />the Carpentry Supply section and for the demolition of the Acorn Park building with the <br />moneys for this project to be taken from the Recreation Facilities Fund. <br />
