REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 12/15/99 <br />Item o. <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed Agenda Section <br />Reports and Recommendations <br />Item Description 2000 Proposed Property Tax Levy and Budget <br />After a series of public meetings and discussions during the period of July through November, the <br />Final Hearing on the tax levy and budget was held on December 13, 1999. <br />On the basis of the Council's comments, staff` is providing an adjusted budget and levy to reflect the <br />Council's desire to have no tax increase for the year 2000. The reduction from the original proposed <br />levy will be reflected in a Tightly smaller improvement program for 2000. <br />Fiscal Surnmau <br />The proposed tax levy for 2000 is $6,400,887 which is a 0% as compared to 1999. The levy is based <br />on a total proposed 2000 budget of $34,009,249,, an increase of $1,397,071 or a 4.2% over 1999. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion approving the budget resolution for 2000 in amount of $34 3 009 9 249. <br />Motion approving the tax levy of $6,400,887 for 2000. <br />Motion approving the resolution for change in debt levy. <br />
