Dec. 13, 199 9 <br />Item No: C 1 <br />t <br />old r t t r' <br />Re CONSENT <br />Iten61130scrip"tion: Approval of Burn Permit to burn native plantin on the <br />Bonestro Rosene A n de rlik Associates site, 2335 West Hi 36 <br />1.0 Requested Action. <br />Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik Associates, 2235 West Highway 36, Roseville, is <br />requesting a Burn Permit to conduct a prescribed burn on a small native planting area <br />on the grounds of Bonestroo Associates. <br />2.0 Background. <br />2.1 Site. The site, at which the burn is being requested, is a west facing slope adjacent to <br />the Bonostroo office. It is approximately 25 feet wide by 180 feet [on& and is bordered <br />on the west by a city storrnwater pond and on the east by mowed lawn/parking lot. <br />Firebreaks, a minimum of ten (10) feet wide along the north and south edges, are <br />proposed to provide safe containment for the perimeter of the burn area. <br />2. Experience. Although Bonestroo Associates have not previously requested a Burn <br />Permit on this site, their experience in conducting controlled barns is extensive. Paul <br />J. Bockenstedt Botanist/Restoration Ecologist with Bonestroo, has over ten years of <br />experience in planning and conducting safe and effective prescribed burns for state and <br />county conservation agencies. <br />Bonestroo is requesting the Permit to improve the ecological quality of the native <br />plantings on this site. <br />2.3 Timing. To conduct the safest burn and gain the greatest ecological benefit during this <br />point in their establishment of the native plantings, Bonestroo has requested the <br />following windows for the Burn Permit: <br />October 1 December 15 <br />April 1 May 15 <br />This amount of time will allow for flexibility to choose the safest and most ecologically <br />beneficial day for a fire. <br />RCA Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik Associates (12/13/99) <br />Page 1 of <br />
