The project is funded from the Park Improvement Program Fund. As a
result of Council authorization at the February 28, 2000 meeting, Brauer and Associates
working with residents and staff has been working on the master plan for Lexington Park.
There have been 3 community meetings soliciting citizen input. Additionally, the plans and
information as it has been collected and developed has been posted-on the City's Web
Page to facilitate additional comments and questions.
Attached is a copy of the preliminary master plan for Council review and comment. Jeff
Schoenbauer from Brauer and Associates will be at the Council meeting to present the
current plans. The community has also been informed of the meeting. If the preliminary
plan is approved, Brauer and Associates will complete the plan as directed by the City
Council, bring it to the Parks and Recreation Commission for review and final approval by
the Council.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
The process for developing the Lexington Park Master Plan is consistent with previous
park planning initiatives and as directed by the City Council at the December 13,1999
meeting.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATION
There are no costs associated with the approval of the preliminary master plan. If
approved, Brauer and Associates will complete the plan as directed by the Council with
costs estimates for developing the park. Any action to construct the park will be approved
by the City Council. There is budgeted approximately $500,000 for the initial development
of the park. The preliminary cost estimates for the total build out of the master plan is
approximately $800,000-$1,000,000. The final estimates and a phasing plan will
accompany the recommended final master plan.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
The staff recommends that the City Council approve the preliminary master plan for
Lexington Park with any desired changes and that Brauer and Associates be directed to
complete the plan for review by the Parks and Recreation Commission and formal adoption
by the City Council.
