Generally, permit numbers were higher, but value was <br /> lower. <br /> • The 210 permits issued in March were a record for that month. <br /> • Total new value for the first quarter was $7.1 million, down 17% from <br /> first quarter 199$. <br /> o Total commercial/industrial construction value fagged with $3.5 million, <br /> down 19% from first quarter 1 998. <br /> • Alterations and additions:accounted for 60% ($4,2 million) of the new <br /> value. <br /> • Total plan review and inspection fees for first quarter 1999 ($103,186) <br /> declined by 24% from 1998 due to a lack of large projects. <br /> • Owner occupied housing units remained consistent (10 units) with <br /> previous first quarters. The average value of new housing permits <br /> exceeded $204,000, significantly higher than previous years. Just as <br /> surprising, the average value of housing renovation permits was $23,300, <br /> up 37% ($7,000 per permit) from the same period in 1998. <br /> • For the first quarter, 221 codes complaints or service requests were <br /> recorded and 204 (92.3%) were resolved. Last year, for the same period, <br /> 82 complaints were recorded and 60 (73%) were resolved.
