Lois Olson, Cryogenic Laboratories, Inc., request for a <br /> Planned Unit Development to expand the building at 1944 Lexington Avenue <br /> 5 using the Cornerstone Guidelines. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Acting Chair Rhody opened the hearing and requested Dennis Welsch to present <br /> 8 an overview of the staff s written report dated March 10, 1 999. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Dennis Welsch explained the dctalls of the building and noted the staff <br /> 11 recommended approval of the concept request. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 John Olson, Cryogenic Labs, noted that he has worked through the issues and <br /> described the design details of the project and how they might be shared with the <br /> 15 adjacent hardware store. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Member Olson asked that the site plan, with a building crossing the south <br /> 18 property line. New setbacks for fire doors will require a different(at least five <br /> 19 feet) setback. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Member Cunninghaxn asked for clarifications on the County right-of-way <br /> 22 expansion of 16.5 feet. Deb Bloom noted that the County includes buffer, clear <br /> 23 area, and landscaping would always be present. <br /> 24 Acting Chair Rhody asked for details on the signage . Bill Brisley, <br /> 25 Architect, described the wall signs that will be included. He also described the <br /> 26 downcast pendent lighting and the building elevation for all four sides. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Meting Chair l hody asked for details on the ponding within the site. Engineers <br /> 29 are working on the details for drainage. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Member Cunningham asked if the architectural tower is to used or is decorative <br /> 32 (It is the entry to the Cryogenic portion of the building). <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Judy Flori ne,Rose villa Townhom.es,noted that the proposal adds new wall <br /> 35 space to look at. will the ponding to the cast eliminate the possibility of planting <br /> 36 a screen along the east side of the building that is viewed by the townhornes? <br /> 37 John Olson noted that they have looped at the problem and will respond with a <br /> 38 planting plan that will fix this problem. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Member Cunningham asked for details regarding landscaping. <br /> 42 Judy Florine noted that the townhomes will not be able to obtain a west breeze <br /> 43 because the east wall will be close to the property line and extend the entire east <br /> 44 lot line. <br /> 45 <br />
