James Christensen is requesting a variance to increase <br /> the coverage of the required rear yard to 44.8% for the purpose of <br /> constructing a 8' x 6' (1008 sf) garage at 669 shryer Avenue West. <br /> Chair alarms opened the bearing and requested Dennis Welsch provide a review, <br /> based on written reports of July 8, 1998, of the request for a variance to increase <br /> rear yard coverage at 669 Sharer Avenue West. <br /> Dennis Welsch advised that this is a through lot with frontage on both Skillman and <br /> hryer- a variance of 446 s.f. variance for building size and a 19.8% lot coverage <br /> variance are being requested in order to construct a 8' 5' garage. He discussed <br /> the staff recommendation to deny this request because of size and discussed the <br /> suggested alternative for the applicant. <br /> Planning commission members discussed building construction alternatives and questions <br /> needed to back boat/truck into garage. The neighbor's garage size is ' x 28'. Mr. <br /> Christensen statedhe was trying to get his equipment and materials out of public <br /> vier. <br /> Chair Harts advised letters/calls objecting to this variance request had been <br /> received from residents at: 69 W. Spillman, 687 W. Skillman, 679 W. Skillman, 657 <br /> hrer; no objection: 665 Shryer. <br /> Keith Holfeld, 746 Wheaton, supported the variance request. <br /> Jeff Hagested, 651 Skillman, supported the variance indicating he would gather see <br /> everything in garage than stared outside. <br /> There being no further questions or comments the hearing was closed. <br /> Motion: Member Rhody moved, Member VVilke seconded, to recommend approval <br /> of James ch riste n sen's request for a variance to increase the coverage of the <br /> required rear yard from 5% to 44.8% for the purpose of constructing a 8' 36' <br /> detached garage at 669 Shryer Avenue. <br /> Motion to amend: Member !!Mulder moved, Member Klausing seconded, to amend <br /> the original motion by approving a variance for construction of a 8' x 32' <br /> accessory building, and direct the staff to work with the applicant for placement of <br /> the building. <br /> Motion did not pass (3-3). <br /> Ayes: Mulder, Wilke, Klausing <br /> !Nays: Olson, Harms, Rhody <br />
