The purpose of the staff study <br /> Frith consultant assistance) is to assist the Council s decision-:Waking regarding the types of <br /> development that should be designated for master planning. Two scenarios were selected: <br /> 1) 8 acre outdoor park; <br /> 2) 6 acre outdoor parr site with a 2 acre art and history public use building <br /> including parking. <br /> 1.2 The Lexington and E site was part of the Cornerstone Planning process held in June, 1 997. <br /> One of the goals of the Cornerstone program for this area was to create a mix of neighborhood <br /> uses on the comers since they are the visible gateways to our residential areas. A second goal was <br /> to male the Lexington and B site a part of the Lexington Parkway civic greenway. A third goal was <br /> to include public open space that was "green", high quality, versatile and flexible,ible, mixed with <br /> different uses, and used gear-round for intergenerational activities, i.e. served the community as <br /> well as the neighborhood. <br /> 1.3 The overall impact of the 8 acre improvement will be to make a positive impact on the <br /> surroundin g neighborhoods and be an amenity (and incentive) for further improvements to private <br /> investments as well as public infrastructure such as the streets, sidewalks, street trees, transit <br /> stops <br /> 1.4 The feasibility study will include sketch plans of the features in each scenario. It will also <br /> identify uses appropriate to each scenario, stages of development, the cost of construction and <br /> maintenance, as well as the supporting revenues that may be available. Additional technical <br /> assistance will be provided by consultants from within the City Consultant Pools. Estimated cost <br /> of this consultant work will not exceed $10,000 and will be funded from the Cornerstone Grant and <br /> Community Development Department Professional services funds. <br /> Suc <br /> ic rested Council Action. <br /> B y motion direct the staff to prepare the Lexington and B Feasibility sturdy of the two alternatives, <br /> reporting back to the Council with findings in August, 1998.
