PARIS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
e-mail- BobEierscheid Roseville.RDl lnet.or
May 1, 1998
To: Steve Sarkozy
From: Bob E ierscheid
Re: Community Group Involvement in Skating Center Expansion
For the past four months, we have been discussing with several community
groups their involvement in the Skating Center Expansion Project. These
discussions have included a) design considerations,'b) capital contributions and
on-going support of the facility. The results thus far include:
a. demon considerations
The following items have been included in the plans and
specifications as a result of working with these groups:
workout space for all groups
new lockerrooms for hockey and speedskating
new group room for figure skating
* improved access from the north parking lot
b. capital contributions
The groups have pledged the following amounts:
Roseville Figure Skating Club- $10,000
Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association- $50,000
Midway Speedskating Club- $50,000
The Roseville Area Schools are still considering a contribution.
cw endowments
The groups were asked to consider developing an endowment for
future support of the Skating Center.
* The Roseville Figure Skating club is unable to enter into this
type of arrangement at this time because of the amount of money
they have in reserve. They have pledged their continued
involvement for ice rentals at the Skating Center.
* The Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association and the Midway
Speeds kati ng Club have agreed to develop an endowment with an
initial contribution of$50,000 and contractually committing annual
contributions of$20,000-$50,000 to this account according to their
means in order to build the principal. Specific contract language
on the plan is being worked out.
We believe this to be a real grin-win situation because it provides
stability for the Skating Center and community and at the same
time insures the safeguarding of the organizations' investments for
their intended use of providing a quality, healthy place to
participate.
