They include FA-I sand for ice control, FA-2 ag regat e for <br /> seat coating, bituminous materials for road repair, asphalt emulsion for seal coating, and Class 5 <br /> gravel for base repair. <br /> Policy Objectives: Each year city staff uses the competitive bid process to secr.rr-e niainteriaiice <br /> materials that fall within budget guidelines. This allows maintenance programs to be completed as <br /> planned with quality materials at the lowest possible cost to the city. <br /> Financial Implications: Street maintenance materials are financed out of the general fund. The <br /> combined bids received fall within the budgeted material cosh projected for 1998. <br /> Discussion of bids,- Bids were opened on June try 1 998. Aggregate materials % ere hid 6-S'.1-0 <br /> higher than 1997. Seal coat oil and bituminous material decreased 0-7%. Fluctuation is not <br /> uncommon in the oil markets, as well as materials that are delivered due to t ru ck r rlg prices %V11 i c h <br /> rise as pump price for diesel fuel increases or decreases.
