REQUEST FOR COUNCEL ACTION
DATE. 5126/98
rIMM NO.: C. T
Department Approval: Manager Reviewed. Agenda Section:
Consents Agenda
Item Description: receipt of Petition and Ordering Feasibility wort for Ornamental Street
Fights on Centre Pointe Drive, City Project UL-98-10
Background: The City has received a petition from Centre Pointe property owners requesting
that the City consider maintaining the existing ornamental street light system on Centre Pointe
Drive. A copy of the petition and a map showing
the petitioners is attached. The system is
currently owned and maintained by the property owners within Centre Pointe.
The street light system was originally installed by Woodbridge Properties in 1987. At that
tie, NSP could not provide the desired ornamental lighting system' Woodbridge Properties
elected to install a private street light system so that this could have the desired style of
lighting. Idaintenance and energy costs for the system are currently the responsibility of the
Centre Pointe property owners. The lights are currently net in operation because the energy
costs have net been paid.
The current property owners would like the st met lights to be reactivated as a City owned
system and the operation costs assessed to benefiting properties. The first step to satisfy the
P roperty owner's guest is to accept the petition and order the preparation of a feasibility
report.
Financial Implications: All costs for the project would be detailed as part of the feasibility
report,
RECONEMMMED COUNCIL ACTION:
Adoption of a resolution accepting a petition for ornamental street lights on Centre Pointe Drive
and ordering the preparation of a feasibility report for the street lights as Project UL-98-10.
Prepared by: Douglas Strong
