Serving
as a member of the Planning Commission would be a way to pay back a little of that time and
energy. I've had an interest in planning and land use issues since working as a Planning intern at
the UMVRDC. one of my duties was to assist in updating the City of Ortonville}s
comprehensive plan and zoning ordinances. I'm certainly not an expert at planning, but 1 believe
my understanding of how comprehensive planning and zoning work together would be an asset to
the city.
What is your view of the role of this Commission?
I believe the role of the Planning Commission is to insure the responsible use of property within
the City of Roseville. Unchecked growth or development of a community can result in conflict
between residents of a city, loss in property value and many other undesirable consequences.
Therefore, commissioners must balance the rights of property owners, whether individual
residents or business owners, against the greater good of the community at-large.
