June12, 2002
To: Neal Beets
Roseville City Manager
FROM: Roseville Historical Society
Now that a Community Center is being discussed again, we feel that the Roseville
Historical Society and its needs should be considered and acted on.
Our membership is approximately 100 and growing. The average attendance is
approximately 45 per meeting. The room we had at the Arona Parks/Recreation building
was 960 square feet and was not adequate. The enclosed drawing shows additional needed
space and usage.
The reason for our existence is to promote Roseville, from remembering and preserving
our past, to anticipating and supporting the new growth of the future. We need space for
meetings and to display our artifacts which help bring Roseville's history alive. We are
enclosing information on other North Suburban Historical Societies current space and
financial support.
Visiting international dignitaries and leaders from other cities and states might be
interested in where we have been and our present position. Since history is a community
memory of the past, we many times, from it, get strength for the future. As a reminder,
when a new Community Center was discussed several years ago, a Historical Society room
was planned, not only to serve our needs, but also to serve the city in other official
instances.
Thank you for letting the Society inform you of our needs that could fit into any building
that you design. We also request that our Society have representation in the planning. We
can meet anytime.
Our web site address is h4://muhs.tfipod.com. Our contact person is Herb Dickhudt
651.484.4146.
Attachments: Floor plan
Needs List
Information re: No. Suburban Societies
