Curti, Carolyn
From: Paul Nock e y
Sent: Friday, July 12, 2002 10:41 AM
To: carolyn.curti@ci-roseville.mn.us
Subject: suggestions for the community center
Ms. Curti:
My wife and I cannot attend tonight's meeting, so we thank you for making emailed suggestions possible. We
hope you will pass these thoughts along to the appropriate officials.
We have lived in Roseville since 1988, and own our residence at 2171 St. Croix Street in Roseville. We have two
daughters, 21 and 17, and a son, 12.
The community center that is envisioned should look a lot like the Shoreview Community Center, with a large
indoor pool with water slides. The pool and water slide is what the kids need and want most of all. The
community center should also have meeting rooms (party rooms), a running track, training center, basketball
court(s), and possibly a climbing wall. The community center should be built with indoor recreation in mind for
our long, cold winters.
If the city wants to save lots and lots of money on its community center, it could claim and rehabilitate the
Fairview Community Center property. We who live on this side of Highway 36 always have to drive to get to
everything -- the civic center, the Oval, the high school, the middle school, etc. If we want to serve more and more
people of Roseville, we should locate some of our community properties on this side of town.
Thanks again for making this mode of communication available. I emphasize the importance of building the
community center for children, first of all, and the importance of making it a cold-weather recreation facility,
second.
Paul Nockleby
633-4967
7/12/2002
