REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date*. 03/2.3/98 Item No,: E-4 Department Approval: Manager reviewed Agenda Section Organizational Business Item Descriptiomm Approving the Establishment of a Roseville Convention and Visitors Bureau Background It is the desire of the City that the Convention and visitors Bureau be . separate legal entity. To enable that organization to begin, the City Attorney has been directed to assist by preparing the necessary initial articles of incorporation and by-laws} and to further assist with any initial legal counsel required ,,,, It is also important to the City Council that the Hotel\Motel industry be properly represented on the Bureau as well as the general business community. In addition to a City Council member and the City Manager as ex officio members, there shall be two Hotel/Motel industry representatives and one member from the general business community. Those qualifications and terns are outlined in the attached documents. The City will begin its customary process of advertising and interviewing to fill the general business representative position and the Hotel/Motel industry will be requested to proceed to fill the two positions for their representation. It is the recommendation of the City Attorney} that the general business representative also be the original incorporator. Council Action Motion to approve the City's support 'in the establishment.of a Roseville Convention and yr story Bureau. Motion to direct City Staff to begin the City's recruitment rocess for filling the general business representative. Motion to request the Hotel/Motel industry to begin its selection process for its two designated board positions.
