City of Roseville <br /> and the <br /> Minnesota Waldorf School <br /> Concept Document <br /> The Minnesota Waldorf School (MWS) is a -8 non-profit elementary school, currently renting <br /> space from Corpus Christi Catholic Church on County Ind. B and Fairview. we are a sixteen <br /> year old school with about 150 students. Our students come frond a variety of social, economic, <br /> racial, and cultural backgrounds. Minnesota Waldorf School is a non-profit} non-sectarian <br /> or am ation, supported by tuition, contributions, and voluntary*efforts of parents and friends of <br /> the school. Minnesota Waldorf School is an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf <br /> Schools of North America. <br /> With more than 500 Waldorf Schools internationally, Waldorf education is the fastest.-growing <br /> educational movement in the world. Founded in 1919 by Rudolf Steiner,the Austrian <br /> philosopher,her, educator, scientist, and artist, Waldorf education is based on his insights into the <br /> human being and the nature of the developing child. <br /> A central theme in our Community wide Mission and Vision Statement(attached) is to he <br /> proactive in reaching out to the neighborhood around us. Our aim is to integrate ourselves and <br /> the work of our school more fully with the community and its members, and the many <br /> organizations, agencies, and entities that provide support for them. It is with this aim in mind <br /> that we seek to work together with the City of Roseville to co-develop a project that would allow <br /> the City to leverage its resources while increasing services to its constituents, and MWS to create <br /> a permanent home within the City. <br /> p nti 1 Develonm K, mit Tdcgs <br /> K, <br /> Design a neighborhood center that includes a school with shared space that would serve <br /> both bodies. This could be a community center, activity center,or other multi-use space. <br /> include space that was utilized at different times of day, or space that could be <br /> It could� p <br /> shared within the day, such as a dining Mall that can accommodate senior dining. <br /> Cooperative use of an existing building, such as the Feeder Elementary School Site, on <br /> Aron, currently the Parks and Recreation Center. <br /> The construction of a school site on land attached to a Roseville Park, lard which is not <br /> suitable for housin g or commercial development, and too small for a separate school site. <br /> The attached p ark land would make the constructio of the Minnesota Waldorf School <br /> feasible <br />
