Contract duration of one year (January 1, 1 998 to December 31, 1998), <br /> 2. Increase wages and longevity pay by 3 percent, <br /> y Increase uniform allowance by 3 percent, <br /> 4. Add a$100 per month differential for Investigative Sergeant to compensate for 24 hour <br /> on-call status, <br /> 5. Increase maximum severance payout from 30 to 40 days, <br /> 6. Increase cafeteria plan contribution amount to $321.61. Employer and employee will <br /> equally share any potential increases or decreases in health insurance costs, and <br /> 7. Modify current language on compensatory time to reflect current practice of limiting <br /> accumulated time to 50 hours. <br /> ALmTERbIATIVES <br /> The Council may choose to approve or reject the offer. If approved, the city Manager is <br /> authorized to sign the 1998 contract. If not approved, the 1998 contract provisions will <br /> likely be arbitrated. <br /> F!OLLQY-- EJ EC]EIV Es <br /> The total cost of the 1998 contract is consistent with other bargaining and non-bargaining <br /> unit groups. <br /> F I NANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br /> T here are seven employees in the Sergeant's bargaining unit. The 1998 proposal totals <br /> p ]�ees � <br /> $492,045. The total dollar increase of the package is $16,542.
