REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 11/18/02 <br /> Item No.: VI. A. <br /> Department A proval: Manager Reviewed Agenda Section <br /> Hearings <br /> Des on: Liquor License renewals for the year 2003. <br /> Background <br /> Staff is in the process of renewing all liquor licenses for the year 2003. The licenses to be renewed <br /> include twenty-five (25) On-Sale (maximum 30 allowed by state stature), eight (8) Off-Sale <br /> (maximum of 10 allowed by City ordinance), four (4) Club, ten (10) Wine, fifteen (15) On-Sale 3.2 <br /> Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor, eight (8) Off-Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor (City ordinance <br /> or state statute do not limit the number of the last four types of licenses). The Police Chief has <br /> reviewed the records, and finds no reasons for denial of the licenses. The City Attorney will review <br /> the applications prior to the issuance of licenses to ensure they are in order. <br /> Financial Implications <br /> The estimated revenue of$193,790 that is generated from the license fees collected is used to offset <br /> the cost of police compliance checks, background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and <br /> license administration. <br /> Council Action <br /> Motion approving/denying the renewal of the following liquor licenses for calendar year 2003 with <br /> the condition that all required application items be submitted before the licenses may be issued. <br />
