WORK SESSION AGENDA ITEM N0. 3
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL DISCUSSION/DIRECTION
DATE: 2/17/98
ITEM NO:
artment Approval: Manager Approval: Agenda Section:
Iterfi Description: JAMES ADDITION DIRECTION
7.0 Back" d
In January the Council decided to discuss the James Addition
Neighborhood report in more detail at an upcoming work session. Attached
is a summary of the James Addition study and a copy of a second site plan
(received 2112198) submitted by Peter Coyle, representing the National Tire
Warehouse.
The Neighborhood recommendations are included in the packet and
include more recommendations than just the issue of the southeast corner
commercial vs. housing land uses. The real estate community has begun
to call on the availability of the racquetball court as a possible senior
housing or apartment building. There are also some significant road and
traffic signal cost issues (minimum $1 .5 million) that (if approved) must be
added to the County and City CIP for coming years.
The Neighborhood and the commercial property owners do need direction
in order to hold Planning Commission hearings before the end of the
moratorium, April 28, 1998. The hearings need to include all of the possible
alternatives that the Council may wish to include in a future comprehensive
plan and zoning map amendment.
Council Direction' Sought.9
Direction on which land use issues need public hearings.
Attachment:
Report by: Dennis Welsch, 490-2232
M:UAMESADDIFEBI7.DDC
1
