C. <br /> Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br /> 71id *e6 <br /> Consent <br /> Item Description: Awarding Bid for Waste Removal from City of Roseville Public Facilities <br /> Background: <br /> Specifications for waste removal service from City facilities from January 1,2003, through <br /> December 3 15 2004, were sent to all licensed haulers in the City of Roseville. Bids were opened <br /> November 19, 2002. <br /> The specifications require service at City Hall, public works garage, three fire stations, golf <br /> course, skating center, and four locations in Central Park. Haulers were asked to bid the total <br /> two year contract cost and a cubic yard cost for waste removal in excess of the amount describe <br /> din the specifications, which averages less than 100 cubic yards per year. <br /> Discussion of Bids: <br /> The following five bids were received: <br /> Bidder Cost for Two Years Service Cost Per Cubic Yard <br /> Superior Services $19,983.33 $8.00 <br /> Waste Management $20,229.36 $8.00 <br /> BFI Waste Systems $21576.00 $5.00 <br /> Aspen Waste Systems $22,806.00 $2.99 <br /> Walter's Recycling & Refuse $25,218.00 $8.00 <br /> The base cost of the previous three year contract was $22,854.00. Actual cost due to fuel <br /> increases was significantly higher. The new monthly base cost will be $833 per month compared <br /> to the existing base cost of$850 per month. A reference check indicated Superior Services to be <br /> a responsible fum. <br /> Financial Implications: <br /> The funds for waste removal are included in departmental budgets. The low bid results in a <br /> slight decrease in monthly cost for waste removal from City facilities. <br /> Staff Recommendation: <br /> It is recommended that the bid be awarded to Superior Services in the low bid amount of <br /> $195983.33. <br />
