Several of
on inal stations have been replaced or upgraded over the past 1 0 years due to higher flows or wear-
out of equipment. Seven c r'these stations are primarily original equipment. Division staff is currently
identi to needs for this area to keep operations as trouble-free as possible. The Cohansey lift
station has major immediate needs that need to be addressed to ensure effective operation.
This station is in need of a major overhaul. Staff has written specifications for the retrofit of this

station. Bids were received on January 29, 1998, for this work. It also includes a
working bypass
rkin b ass durin construction. Both companies bids meet the intent of the specification. The
low bid is within our•p reliminary estimates for this work and well below comparable retrofit projects
in certain other cities.
Staff recommendation is to accept the low bid from Northern water works Supply, Inc., for this
work.
Policy Objectives: The City maintains a sanitary sewer system that is in good repair to keep backups
and emergencies to a minimum.
