ROSEVILLE SKATING CENTER EXPANSION PROJECT <br /> Background <br /> The following is a chronology of everts leading to the development of the project <br /> to expand the l osevi lie Skating Center. <br /> 1. In 1972, the Roseville Arena was constructed. <br /> 2. In 1993, the John Rose Minnesota OVAL was constructed and attached to <br /> the Roseville Ile Arena. <br /> 3, In 1994, the City of Roseville made application to the Minnesota Legislature <br /> and was granted $500,000 for an expansion of the facilities. <br /> 4. In 1995, the Parks and recreation Department was reorganized and the <br /> Roseville Skating center was created. <br /> 5. In 1996, the City of Roseville made application to the Minnesota Amateur <br /> Sports Commission and was granted $50,000 for improvements to the <br /> Roseville Arena. <br /> 6. In 1997, the Council appointed a citizens committee to investigate the <br /> recreational infrastructure needs of the community. This committee <br /> recommended the proposed expansion to the skating Center. <br /> 7. In 1997, the City Council authorized the consulting firm of Bonestroo, Rosene <br /> and Anderlik to prepare plans for the expansion of the Skating center. <br /> 8. In January 1998, the Perks and Recreation Commission recommended the <br /> project as proposed. <br /> Process <br /> The proposed design of the project was developed using the following process: <br /> a. staff completed a review of needs outlined in the larks and <br /> Recreation System Plan <br /> b. The grant application to the state was reviewed. <br /> C. A committee was established with representatives from: <br /> a larks and Recreation Commission <br /> $ Neighborhood <br /> e Roseville Area hockey Association <br /> * Roseville Figure Skating Club <br /> o Roseville Area schools <br /> * Midway Speedskating Club <br /> 9 Minnesota Bandy Association <br /> 1. <br />
