January 7, 1998
To: City council
FROM: Steve sarkozy
SUBJECT: JAMES ADDITION REDEVELOPMENT ISSUES
At the December 1 5, 1 997 meeti ng, the Council accepted the James Addition Task Force
recommendations and extended the moratorium through April 28, 1998. In consideration
of the interests of the Knights of Columbus and potential developers, the City Council
directed the discussion of the Task Force recommendations and related redevelopment
issues to a Special city Council Work Session on January 8, 1998.
The purpose of our meeting is to discuss, in far greater detail than time permitted at
previous meetings, the recommendations of the Task Force, issues of traffic, and the
merits of redevelopment versus continuing the existing uses. The attached packet includes
specific issues for council review related to the Jaynes Addition as well as broader policy
issues regarding senior housing (the preferred redevelopment concept).
Specific Council direction is needed on as many of the Issues outlined as possible.
Respectfully submitted.
Attachment
