0 Development of Data Dissemination Techniques (June 1997 - ongoing)
As data is made available for use, member cities, other government agencies, potential developers
and the public need to be able to access this data in the most efficient mean possible. Techniques
must therefore be established and evaluated fro distributing this data e.g., using web browsers for
Internet and Intranet use.)
Development of Coalition 'One-Stop-Shop" for Data Access (January 1 998 - July 1 998)
or
In order to access the most relevant GIS data to meet the needs of member cities, there must be a
well -managed data warehouse in place where browsing of well documents data sets can be
undertaken.
GIS T raining- 1 997 - Ongoing)
Training of city staff is imperative to insure that GIS system information is being used on a
collaborative basis and to its full potential. Both formal and informal training should be
accommodated.
Work with the Design Center in Establishing GIS to Support Coalition Needs (December 1997
- Ongoing)
Development of Electronic Data Linkages Between GIS and OCR- (March 1998 - December
1998)
The OFD data base, developed by Minnesota Real Estate Journal (MREJ) is essentially a
Commercial ML, 1 1-EJ is interested in selling its resources to cities for economic development
activities. The linkage between OCR data and the Coalition GIS data would provide an extremely
unique economic development/redevelopment tool for Coalition members. For example, a member
would be able to find not only the traditional GIS information regarding a specific property, but
would also be able to see a digital photograph of the property, dam showing detailed lease
information, lease expiration dates, real estate contact person(s), if the property is for sale the asking
price, etc,
Incorporating Additional Regionally Significant GIB Databases (March 1998 - ongoing)
There are a number of additional GIS data bases that could be integrated into the Coalition GIS data
base from federal, state, county, local and private sector sources.
Identify and Produce Custom GIS Applications - (November 1997 - Continuous)
As familiarity with GIS systems and applications grow, Coalition members want to automate certain
tasks and create innovative and unique subroutines and applications. For example, producing a map
and a set of address labels for a certain distance from a given parcel for a public hearing. In addition,
many of the questions that the Coalition will ask will require that GIS analysis mapping is
undertaken. The GIS Program will need to accommodate this with data, software and personnel.
2.
