County Road C <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Recommendation concerning an ordinance <br /> amendment relating to where above ground <br /> flammable liquid storage tanks can be located. <br /> I. BACKGROUND <br /> a. The Uniform Fire Code states that above ground flammable liquid <br /> storage tanks can be located only in districts where they are permitted <br /> by a local community. City Ordinance 34.030 states that above <br /> ground flammable liquid storage tanks can only be located in the area <br /> west of Cleveland Avenue, north of Highway 3b, east of the western <br /> City boundary and south of the northern boundary of the City. <br /> b. Minnesota Coaches Inc. operates a fleet' of buses from their facility at <br /> 1743 W. County Road C. They would dike to update their current <br /> fueling facilities with a new high capacity above ground diesel fuel <br /> tank. The location is outside of the designated area where above <br /> ground flammable liquid storage tanks are permitted. <br /> C. The City Attorney's office has indicated that there currently is no <br /> authority in City ordinances to allow above ground storage tanks <br /> outside of the area designated in Section 34.030. The City Attorney <br /> advises that if the City wishes to approve above ground flammable <br /> liquid storage tanks outside of that area, an amendment to the City <br /> ordinance would be necessary which grants the City Council the <br /> power to do so. <br /> d. The City Council has referred this matter to the Planning Commission <br /> for study and recommendation. The City Council identified the <br />
