At the
time, the facility included an 18-hole chipping and putting
course, an indoor driving range and a retail shop. In 1992,
Lava Links proposed an expansion of their facility to include
a snack ]gar and games (putting games, darts, hoops, basketball,
etc* ) a The- expansion area was 1,,750 s q* ft. in size and
provided space for 7 new games and ,seating for 54 people. In
March of 1992, the city Council approved this request for a
special use permit*
2a The golf driving range and simulators were built in the 2400
s q. ft. lower level o f the amusement center space. Lava Links
has found this part of their operation to be unproductive and
are proposing to - modify the use of this space. They are
Proposing to build a floor over the 2400 sq. ft. leer level to
Provide two levels. The upper level is at the same elevation
as the putting course and would become an amusement area
offering a variety of skill and arcade games. The lower level
would be developed into a private party space, In addition,
Lava Links is proposing to add 1,700 sq. ft. of space,
immediately adjacent to the west side of their store. They are
proposing to develop this area into an upscale parlor game room
offering air hockey, foosball, pool tables, darts and
additional private party opportunities.
3* Past applications have addressed the affect this use would have
on parking and traffic at the center. Given the relatively
small amount of space involved and the multiple destinations of
a single customer, the impact on the center will be minimal* '
Including Lava Links on any s igna ge that directs patrons to the
west parking structure, which is often not as full as the east
surface parking lots, would mitigate any increased traffic or
parking issues. It has also been suggested that moving Lava
Links identification sign from the east end of the center to
