September 17 1993 <br /> To* City Council <br /> FROM: Steve sarkozy <br /> SUBJECT: AD I ISTRATIVE OFFENSE ORDINANCE <br /> yiM <br /> The concept of the Administrative offense Ordinance has been <br /> discussed previously at City Council breakfast meetings, The <br /> purpose of this new ordinance is to make more efficient the Code <br /> Enforcement procedures <br /> At the work session, we will have a discussion with the City <br /> Council to familiarize ourselves with the type of complaints we <br /> typically receive in Code Enforcement,, the 'current Code enforce- <br /> ment procedures, and the proposed new procedures as part of the <br /> Administrative offense Ordinances The discussion steps are as <br /> follows* <br /> 1* Review of the 1993 Code Enforcement activity. <br /> 2. Review of current Cods enforcement procedures. <br /> 3, Review problems with the current Code enforcement practices, <br /> 4. Discuss the proposed Administrative offense ordinance and <br /> resulting Code enforcement process. <br /> 5. Discuss list of noncriminal offenses subject to the Adminis� <br /> trative Offense ordinance and a review of the Administrative <br /> Offense Ordinance penalties4h <br /> With City Council approval, .ordinance modifications to affect the <br /> administrative p rocess would be brought to the City Council in <br /> the coming weeks. In addition, staff feels that many of our <br /> codes would also need to be modified to improve our Code enforce- <br /> ment compliance e f forts e <br /> The target date for implementation of the Administrative Offense <br /> ordinance procedures will be January 1, 1994 * <br /> Respectfully submitted. <br />
