September 16,x, 1993 <br /> To Steve Sarkozy <br /> City Manager <br /> From: Ed Burrell <br /> Finance Director <br /> Position rd i DrIveril a Licen.sen <br /> As you are aware, the statutes concerning driver? e license fees <br /> and the retention of that fee were changed in the 1993 legisla- <br /> tive session. <br /> Previously, the County Court Administrator retained $ .50 and the <br /> City received $ .50 c ent s for providing the service. The legis- <br /> lature both by law and intent permitted the agent (City) to <br /> retain the full fee to cover the expenses. <br /> It has been the position of the Ramsey Counter Cities to retain <br /> the fee as was intended by the statute . The District Court <br /> Administrator however is insisting that his office continue to <br /> receive the fee. <br /> We are in the process -of meeting with the other cities to see <br /> what arrangements can be worked out. <br /> Attached is a copy of the statute with the 1993 changes shown. <br />
