Has the NRPA Board of Trustees appro yed this A ccreditatio n Program? <br /> The Board of Trustees formally voted to move ahead on the Accreditation Program <br /> jointly with the Academy. The Board is kept up-to-date on the developments through <br /> its Professional Development Committee. At its meetings in Cincinnati, Fall 1992, <br /> the involvement of the NRPA and support for the project was reaffirmed by the <br /> Board. <br /> 2. H%o is financing this project? <br /> A grant <br /> from the James Foundation and the American Academy for the Park and <br /> recreation Administration provided the initial financing. The NRPA and the National <br /> Recreation Foundation has funded the pilot study, the later stages of development, and <br /> implementation of the Program. <br /> 3. H%o does the accredUing? <br /> The accrediting 1'commiss io n" is being empowered or established by the American <br /> Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (Board of Directors) and the <br /> National Recreation and Park Association (Board of Trustees). It is proposed that a <br /> Commission (similar to the rational Council on Accreditation for colleges and <br /> universities) be established composed of four representatives each from the two <br /> empowering organizations and five representatives from related organizations, one <br /> each frnnn the American Association for Leisure and Recreation (AALR), Council of <br /> Executives (NRPA)., National Association of Counties, International City <br /> Mate E <br /> Managers Association (1CMA), and the National League of Cities, <br /> 4, W7 is the aria ass A r `t 'or <br /> It is a new organization to be established as the policy and implementing body.
