Three local firms submitted bids on 4 models from <br />3 different manufacturers <br />I have completed an extensive review , o f the. bids <br />the specifications, . I have checked references and have <br />not found many negative comments on this machine. These are only <br />approximately 20 of these machines in the area. ABM is the new Mobil. <br />sweeper dealer since last fall. They have provided a letter stating <br />their commitment to providing parts and service for the Mobil sweepers <br />They have stated they will meet the 90 day delivery specification. <br />In a field demonstration of the Mobil Athey sweeper, it appeared to not <br />clean quite as well as our E l g i ns + we did determine some of the problem <br />was operator error in x having the sweeping pattern adjusted properly. <br />Another concern was the overall sweeping width which is 61' less on the <br />Mobil Athey than the Elgin S E . The cost of extra time spent sweeping i.s <br />offset by the reduced daily maintenance on the Mobil Athey. <br />I feel the bid from ABM for the Mobil Athey should be accepted at a cost <br />of $58.,858 after trade in. <br />There is $100,000 appropriated for this purchase in the 1993 Storm <br />Utility budget.
