"At tiFJi - 1- 43
r r mid Oaks Lane
Roseville, MN 55113
April 209 1993
Members of the City Council'~
Roseville City Hall
Roseville, MN 55113
Dear Council Members:
We strongly oppose the special use permit requested by Patricia Curtiss to
agate a beauty salon from her home on 1987 Aldine Street* we'hope that you
will vote to deny her request*
We are a quiet neighborhood bounded by Rosedale to the north, Har Mar to the
east o and the State Fairgrounds to the south + we are surrounded b heavy
commercial traff is f rom the entire Twin Cities. we do not want to encourage
commercial traffic is in our small residential neighborhoods.
We are up posed in principle to client centered businesses within Roseville' s
residential neighborhoodso Such businesses attract strw4ers into residential
areas where we are already watchful and fearful for our children's safety.
The area of Ms . Curb ss ' s home is frequented by children from the area going to
and from our neighborhood elementary; school. We do not want strangers in this
area.
we have, in the past, been targets of many burglaries* we have worked hard to
look out for our neighbors know the cars in the area know the patterns of
the- citizens as pant of an active neighborhood watch. Commercial traf fie is
counter to these efforts@
We are happy to have the Curtiss family join our neighborhood, we would like
them to be happy here. Howeverp we are not happy to have them bring commercial
traffic into our neighborhood. Comercial space is available w=ithin walking
distance of the Miss home. If Ms. Curtiss wishes to operate a beauty salon,
we would weld her as a new small business owner in one of the nearb.-retail
and commercial establishments o we .do not want. that establishment next door
we strongly urge the Council to deny Mse Curtissf request. we further ask
you to review and charge the city ordinance which allows client centered
home businesses within residential neighborhoods - -with or without special
permit requests —grandfathering in existing business so as not to cause
hardship-@
Sincerely,
Tamara McGehee
Richard McGehee
