® QUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 0412 -w93 <br />ITEM NO <br />Depar ent Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section. <br />Consent <br />Item Description: John Paulson request for a minor variance at <br />.2561 Fisk street <br />Eac arour d <br />110 city ordinances require front yard setbacks in residential <br />districts at 30 feet. In the case of an attached garage with <br />no living space above, the setback is 27 feet <br />John Paulson is proposing to, remodel his home at 2561 Fisk <br />Street by extending his garage forard' and moving the kitchen <br />behind the garage. The garage, as proposed, would be 19 fast <br />from the front Property line, regu iring an 8 foot variance. <br />3 The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval <br />y <br />of the variance. The Committee based this recommendation on <br />the fact that the relatively steep grade and large trees on <br />both sides of the house., together with the wetland in the <br />rear yard, prevent expans ion in any other direction. <br />Su f f i cient room remains in the driveway to par] a - vehi cl e <br />beyond the public right -o c f -gray . <br />4. All affected adjacent neighbors have been contacted and <br />indicated their approval of the variance request. <br />Alternatives 0 <br />1. Grant the variance based on the finding that a hardship. or <br />practical difficulty is present on the site <br />-2.
