To reduce noise pollution throughout the community with an <br />initial focus on the Highway 36 corridor., <br />Utilize means to reduce high speed vehicle noise (e.g. <br />improved road surface, screens, barriers, speed <br />control). <br />mom Develop and enforce strong noise emission standards <br />(decibel levels) for vehicles, power equipment, radios <br />and other audio equipment, businesses, and other - outdoor <br />activities <br />- Develop and implement a program for monitoring road <br />noise. <br />To protect sensitive or unique natural ecosystems within <br />the city. <br />- <br />Regulate/limit usage of these areas (e.g.' <br />e . g . ' wetl ands , <br />woodlands, lakes, etc.) where necessary, to conserve <br />them-as unstressed areas and to protect their wildlife <br />as needed. <br />-� Prohibit use of fertilizer /pesticides on land adjacent <br />to these areas except for managed and approved <br />applications. <br />Protect and improve lake water quality. <br />Evaluate and upgrade park system plans to anticipate <br />changes in population demographics. <br />11 To increase forestation in all areas of the City. <br />Obtain or conduct greenery inventory mapping. <br />Encourage residential plantings* <br />Develop and implement an ongoing forestation plan for <br />all City lands and for County, State, and Federal lands <br />(including highways) within the City. <br />- <br />Establish "greenery standards" for commercial, <br />industrial, and church properties with incentives. <br />To develop environmentally benign systems for moving <br />people. <br />Encourage use and expansion of public transportation. <br />Designate bicycle lanes on roadways. <br />Introduce more surfaced walkways , especially along <br />heavily traveled highways. <br />2 <br />
