PUBLIC SAFETY <br />VISION <br />Roseville shall be a community with minimal fear and worry over <br />personal safety by our residents, or the potential for significant <br />loss of property. This feeling of safety comes because we are a <br />community of thoughtful and caring people who. place great emphasis <br />upon prevention, planning, and prompt response to requests for <br />emergency assistance, and we have implemented plans to mitigate <br />and ameliorate public safety problems. <br />GOALS <br />Community Crime, Prevention <br />q Heighten individual and family awareness and accountability <br />in basic crime prevention strategies in order to head off <br />the potential for criminal behavior. <br />Assist individuals and families in becoming stakeholders <br />in our community through intensive public information <br />and community outreach efforts. <br />Increase parental responsibility and accountability for <br />the actions of their children. <br />- Heighten family awareness of the need for "child well- <br />being", including sound nutrition, basic health care, <br />effective parenting practices, and sound educational <br />programs. <br />Assist individuals and families in implementing basic crime <br />prevention strategies to avoid reliance on police as the <br />primary means of ensuring public safety. <br />- Enforce a curfew ordinance consistently throughout the <br />community. <br />- Develop and train neighborhood watch groups in 100 <br />percent of Roseville neighborhoods and to assist such <br />groups in remaining active and visible. <br />Develop and implement comprehensive leisure program <br />options for school age children and youth with emphasis <br />upon nonathletic alternatives. To ensure accessibility, <br />a means for transportation to and from activities should <br />be developed. <br />- Assist in the development of licensed, affordable child <br />care options within the community, especially during <br />nonschool hours; <br />
