Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />Q�x� Reports and Recommendations <br />Item Description: Acceptance of Eldridge Avenue west ' of Fairview Avenue <br />as city road and utilities for public ownership and <br />maintenance <br />Background: Recently, construction of Eldridge Avenue west of Fairview <br />Avenue was completed. The work . was done in conjunction with the <br />redeVel opment of the corpus Christi site. A summary of the project is <br />attached from the project engineer, Mr. Dennis Brown.. The work included <br />the construction of sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, and a <br />residential cul -de -sac street. The letter from the engineer indicates <br />that the work has been completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications and is ready for acceptance as public facilities. Also, <br />we have received a letter from Corpus Christi requesting that the public <br />ownership and maintenance begin. <br />Policy obj e c tive s e. Developers have two options when proposing new <br />developments within the-city: ". <br />1._ petition the city to have -the project constructed by the city's <br />contractor with costs assessed to them <br />2. Dire construction done for the project as per approved plans <br />and specifications by the City of Roseville. <br />City staff must make final inspection to assure that construction was <br />completed in compliance with city standards. If work is adequate, the <br />city then accepts the project and assumes maintenance for the new <br />facilities. This process has been completed for this improvement. <br />Financial implications: Work such as the Eldridge Avenue project <br />generally has no major financial implications for the city because: <br />1 Developer chose to construct the project and finance all <br />construction costs <br />2a All project costs were paid loot by the developer. <br />However, in this case, there were minor costs paid by the city for <br />backyard drainage improvements along the common lot line between <br />Eldridge and Skillman as a result of previously existing backyard <br />drainage problems. The city has agreed to finance minor regrading and <br />engineering costs from storm utility funds. <br />
