REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 2/22/93 ITEM NO a : F' U-L Department ApprovalW Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: C4 Reports and Recommendations Item Descr ip t ion : ROSEDALE AREA IVHS/HOV TRAFFIC XWAGE ENT PROTECT CITY PROJECT 92-29 Background: At the February work session, staff and our transportation consultant, BR W, discussed the status of the proposed IVHS /HCV project considered for the Rosedale areas The proposed project addresses traffic management concerns in the Rosedale area and suggests strategies to attempt to solve some of the problems. These strategies include traffic management techniques for shoppers using the Rosedale area retail facilities and also transit related improvements on both T.H. 36 and the Rosedale site# Policy objectivese. Applicable policies that would apply to the proposed study had been outlined in the original grant submittal under the section titled Related Policies /Plans /Other Information, a copy of which is attached. Financial implications: As noted during the work session presentation, the requested city share for the preliminary report will be $15,.000. This amount is proposed to be funded from the city's existing municipal State Aid fund, since it relates directly to transportation improvements. staff recommendation: staff recommends that the city proceed with the project and pursue available financing by authorizing the' preparation of the preliminary feasibility study in an amount not to exceed $15,000. Rosedale will also provide financing for its share of the study costs in a similar amount. RBCHHENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion approving the agreement between the City of Roseville and BRW to provide transportation engineering services as outlined in the proposal dated February 4, 1992, for stage 1A and stage lB, Concept - Definition Preliminary Work for the Rosedale Area, IVHS/HOV Project, City Prcj ect 92 -29-M
