Rm <br />W <br />Dear Mr. Catlin: <br />As you know the proposal, "IVHSIHOV Project for Rosedale Area," to <br />participate in the TVHS Field Operational Test. Program that was submitted to <br />the Federal- Highway Admu' listration by Mn OT was not accepted for this <br />year's program. I have spoken to Mr. Jim Wright of Mn OT end he told me <br />the following: <br />There will be another submittal for F4 that may start as early as March <br />1993. <br />Mn /DOT is meeting with the FHWA in the near future to discuss the <br />Integrated Traffic Management System concepts, one concept of which is <br />the Rosedale FrojecL <br />• The concept of developing an Advanced Traffic Management System <br />(ATMs) for the Rosedale Area that would include kiosks/video monitors <br />at the shopping center exits to inform shoppers and employees of the <br />traffic conditions and the fit, access route is a "good one" and has general <br />applicability to other situations in the Turin Cities and around the country. <br />If the concept includes an Advanced Tmveler Information System (AnS) <br />to advise employem shoppers, transit riders, remote packers, and <br />commercial vehicles on the prefers access route, the concept is <br />enhanced. <br />The cost of the HOV access will be more difficult to fund with IVH <br />money. <br />It is difficult for MrOT ' to use Guidestar money to fond a portion of the <br />program at this tinge. <br />
