mm. <br />HAT IS DECA? <br />DECA (The Distributive Education Clubs of <br />Ainerica) is a student - centered organization. <br />which stresses the importance of social <br />intelligence p leadership development, civic <br />consciousness, and vocational understanding. <br />It is the only organization in operation <br />through the nation's public schools which <br />promotes . careers in marketing, distribution, <br />mercha d . <br />n �s�n� � and management. E combining <br />classroom instruction with significant <br />marketing and distribution related <br />projectsi <br />DECA provides <br />a greater sense of understanding <br />for the aspiring student. This positive add <br />ition to ordinary -classroom activity motivates <br />students to more fully appreciate the free <br />enterprise system in effect in the United <br />States today, As a result of its highly <br />motivated, rewarding program # DECA develops <br />leaders who are wellmoadJ usted, service <br />oriented young people Who are a credit to the <br />community s Furthermore j, DECA members contrib- <br />ute substantially to the e l l �be ing and future <br />of the free enterprise system of the United <br />Mates of America f <br />DECA has over 300,000 members nationwide with over 5, 000 members in Hii. <br />National DECA was incorporated in 1947 in Hemphi s , Tenns sea. Mr. He Dermo t t , the current advisor, helped with <br />state charter application as a senior at Alexander Ramsey High School, <br />the old RAKE, in 19649 In 1965-Roseville Schools was ' of f i s is 1 ly <br />chartered as a national member of DECk # However * there 'has .`a lwas been <br />a Marketing program and chapter in Roseville schools since the doors <br />first opened in the early 1950's. <br />DECA. is an association of Marketing students <br />DECA activities renter around Leadership Development, Vocational <br />Understanding, Civic Consciousness, and Social Intelligence,, <br />All 50 states, the Dim ttict of Columbia, All Da S.
