Department Approval "7 Item Description: BACKGROUND REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION M77 er evi awed DATE* 1/25/93 ITEM NO: Agenda Section: Reports and Recommend &tions Cooperative Facility use Agreement with.Roseville Area School District 623 r The City and school District have had continuing discussion on ways in which both entities could cooperate to provide the hest, most cost effective use of facilities. As a result of the passage of the refer endum in November of 1992, the District will he constructing new gyrmnasiums at Erimhall and Central park elementary schools. The City, in order to provide needed activity space for residents, has reached agreement with the District to provide $250,000 -per school. For this contribution the City will receive the following 1# Ea c:4 gym will he enlarged (from 70 ft x 90 ft) to 90 ft x 115 ft 2. Secured office/storage space of 300 s duare feet 3. Locker rooms 4. Exclusive use of gymnasium from 15 minutes after dismissal to midnight on school days and from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on non school days NOTE: School may have four evenings. , per year if scheduled by August 1 and other days by permission of City The City shall have the use of other rooms in these schools during the same times the City has use of the gyms for no charge 6o The school will pay all utility and maintenance costs in the gyms for the first ten years and thereafter these costs will he shared 50/50 7e The City shall have first right of refusal if the school is sold or a depreciated amount for the gym if the City does not exercise the purchase option so The agreement is for 25 gears and may he extended. The City only, has the right to cancellation LICY OBJECTIVE The proposed contract is consistent with the City s objective of providing the most cost effective, duality services and facilities where possible through intergovernmental cooperative agreements*
