-# Y
To: Steven Sarkozy# City Manager
From: Steven D. Gatlin, Director of Public Works
RE: STATUS OF 19 9 3 P. lP
Date: January 15, 1993
In July, the City Council selected a group of neighborhoods for
inclusion in the 1993 PXP. Staff has begun the preparation of
feasibility reports for the 1993 program. Also at that time, we
prepared a summary of the remaining neighborhoods and attempted
to define the program for 1994 and 19950 A copy of the PMP for
those three years in -tabular form is attached along with maps
showing neighborhoods recommended for inclusion for 1993,.
The total amount of program cost remaining for the next three
years is approximately 7 million. This includes 6 million
of local street projects, approximately $500gOOO o f storm suer
projects to be built in conjunction with the local streets, and
$500,000 for N.S.A. roadway construction*
Normally, staff would have completed feasibility reports in late
3anuary and scheduled public improvement hearings for the
neighborhoods in Februarys plans would then be completed in
March, bids received in April, and construction starting in May.
Several of the neighborhoods for the 1993 program have provided
petitions opposing the project as originally presented or,
suggested amendments to the programs Specifically, these
included Neighborhood 53, the Kid Oaks neighborhood, and
Neighborhood 52, the Ridgewood Dane neighborhood* In September,
staff promised these neighborhoods that we would spend additional
time reviewing their requests and considering their suggestions*
Due to the loss of Karl Keel and Doug S trong' s illness, we have
not been able to complete the analysis necessary to address these
specific neighborhood concernse Accordingly, feasibility reports
have not been started for Kid Oaks and Ridgewood. It appears now
that it is not going to be possible to complete these feasibility
reports and still conform to our normal schedule*
