INV <br />Work with the City Manager and City Council to develop and implement: <br />o Recruitment and retention incentives for daytime - available <br />firefighters. <br />* A competitive pay and benefits program for paid -on -call firefighters+ <br />Revise the Fire Department's strategic goals and objectives to reflect the <br />Council's policy preferences and the challenging financial times the city will <br />be facing in the conning years. <br />Continue development of the firefighter health and safety program. <br />Develop policies for responding to terrorism, weapons of mass destruction <br />and mass victim incidents. <br />Improve response times to fire emergencies by using on -duty part -time <br />firefighters to achieve 90% staffing coverage. <br />Improve response times to faire emergencies using on -duty part -time <br />firefighters. <br />Conduct a comprehensive compensation study of firefighter pair and benefits. <br />Develop and recommend to Council incentive programs to maintain and <br />improve volunteer recruitment and retention. <br />Develop departmental safety program, including the Respiratory protection <br />Program to comply with o. .H.A. requi'rernents. <br />Continue development of the firelighter health & fitness program. <br />FIRE TRAINING <br />2004 and Objectives <br />Implement a full -time training manager position to develop on -shift tra ng. <br />0 Transition firefighter training to be conducted on- shift, better utilizing <br />firefighter's tine while they are on -duty. <br />e Implement an officer /supervisor's training pro gran . <br />Provide firefighters with technical rescue training. <br />
