Fire Department Response to League of Women Voters Consensus Statement <br />2004 FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET IMPACT <br />$1,100 in the 2004 Fire Department's Operating Budget for recruitment <br />printing and advertising. <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Support for the budgeted funds for <br />recruitment printing and advertising. <br />LEAGUE POSITION #4: "If all else fails the Ir v supports hiring full -time fire-fighters <br />for daytime shifts." <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONSE: In light of the financial strains on the <br />City, we do not support hiring full -tine firefighters for daytime shifts in <br />2004. <br />2004 FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET IMPACT: <br />$ 0 in the Eire Department Operating Budget to hire full -time firefighters for <br />daytime shifts. <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: No action. This item is not funded in the 2004 <br />Fire Department budget. <br />LEAGUE POSITION #5: "The Lwv supports the current arrangement of the police <br />department as the first responder for fire calls and emergency medical services." <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONSE: We agree with the League's Consensus <br />Statement. <br />2004 FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET IMPACT: <br />o in the Fire Department Operating Budget for providing emergency <br />medical services. <br />3 <br />
