Communication Technology 4 <br />Communication- related devices such as voice mail, electronic mail, and the Internet are made available to staff for <br />the purpose of facilitating City business. As such, any personal use of these items should be hmited. All information <br />transmitted is subject to the City's employee conduct policies, including sexual harassment and discrimination <br />policies* as well as local, state and federal laws_ <br />In general, any use of communication- Telated devices that interfere with the employee's work performance or the <br />operations of the City is prohibited. 7'he complete Communication Technology Policy can be found in the appendix. <br />Confidential Information <br />In the performance of his or her duties, an employee may have access to information or records that are confidential. <br />Disclosure of any of this information may only be made in accordance with established policies and procedures and <br />state and federal lain. Inappropriate disclosure may result in disciplinary action, up to and includ i zig dismissal. <br />Conflicts of Interest <br />It is expected that every employee sliall exercise good judgement in avoiding involveniew with conflicting outside <br />business interests. These include, but are not linlited to, the following situations: <br />Those in which the employee's official capacity with the City or with the outside organ ratio ri may enable h i ni <br />or her to influence the placing of City business. <br />* Those in which an employee accepts a paid or unpaid position elsewhere, where SLICK activity interferes with his <br />or her duties and job perfomia nce. <br />Those in which an employee may gain access to inf armation not generally available to the p tibl i c which may <br />allow him or her to directly or indirectly gain anything of value. <br />Endorsement of Products or Services <br />No employee of the City will endorse any product or service offered by a private business, which will ultimately be <br />used in sale or advertising promotions, This includes statements of interpretation about the product or service, Or <br />providing information in such a maruier which implies endorsement. <br />Expenses <br />Car Expenses <br />An employee required to use his or her personal automobile on City business skull be reimbursed at the rate <br />currently permitted by the Internal. Revenue Service for allowable travel expense purposes.
