AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />TITLE ONE, SECTION 103.06 <br />Fj ILLING a COUNCIL VACANCY <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br />SECTION 1: Title One, Section 103.06 of the Roseville City Code is added to read as <br />follows: <br />103.06: FILLYNG A COUNCIL VACANCY <br />A. ointment: The Council shall avpoint an eligible person to fill a vacancy on the <br />City. Council as soon as is practicable after the vacancy occurs. he person <br />appointed shall serve for the unexpired portion of the term unless a special <br />election is required hereunder ,or b,ystate lair. <br />B Special Election: A s ecial election shall be held to fill a vacancy on the fit <br />Council created when a councilmember is elected to and assumes an <br />inc orrx atible office, if more than Finsert number] months remains in the <br />uneNpired term and the vacant occurs more than [insert num � number] � � months <br />before the next xe lar citv election. This s ecial election shall be held as soon <br />after the vacancy is declared as is Practical under state later and after ' a special <br />primpa election if one is reciuired hereunder. In all other vacancies a s ecial <br />election shall occur as required by state law. The manner of, and periods for <br />4 <br />filig& as a candidate and the conduct of the special election shall be conducted as <br />in all other re lar city electrons. - -- .� <br />C. _ Special Primary Election: Whenever there are more than two (2) candidates to fill <br />a City Council vacant a s ecial vrimary election shall - <br />be held as soon aver the <br />vacancv is declared as is practical under state law. <br />Section : Effective Date.
