Blvd N. <br />I &QUA a I A a r <br />In September, the staff sought Council action necessary to resolve a public nuisance violation at 2199 <br />Cohansey Blvd N. The property is owned by Mr.: And Mrs. Michael Fume, The staff has been <br />working on this ease since March of 2003. In October Mr. Tume met' with staff and proposed a <br />resolution whereby Mr. Tume would replace the rear portion of the Fence neat spring (weather <br />conditions will soon prevent the digging of postholes). This would necessitate continuing the <br />abatement process and review through July 1", 2004. <br />2.0 Project History <br />2.1 The hone at 2199 Cohansey Blvd is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tume who live in the <br />home. <br />2.2 Code compliance items on the property include: <br />I . The fence along the tear property line} which abuts Sandhurst Drive} is dilapidated and in <br />a state of disrepair. The fence originally fell over and was then propped -up by the <br />property owner. This repair was deemed inadequate as a permanent repair and is a <br />violation of City Code Section 407.0 J . <br />2. Staff researched the history of the fence (through permit history and aerial photography <br />records) and found that while the Tume a s home and the apartment buildings were both <br />constructed at approximately the same time the fence in question was constructed a <br />number of gears later (no permit found). The (four) fences. in this area appear to have <br />been all constructed at different tunes. This information, along with the fence enclosing <br />the Turne's lot on each side, would conclude that the fence belongs to the Tume's. <br />2.3 Mr. Tume has twice attempted repairs to the fence and is now communicating with <br />staff. while these repairs have not been successful} they do indicate that Mr. Tume is now <br />cooperating and intends to complete the work. <br />3.0 SUMMARY of RE oNEWE ATION : <br />3.1 Community Development Staff' recommends that the Counci 1 approve continuing the <br />abatement process and review through July 1", 2004 in order to review work which roust be <br />completed and in compliance with the city code on that date. <br />4.0 SUGGESTED COUNCEL ACTION <br />4.1 By motion, continue the abatement review to July of 2004 for a final report to assure <br />that remaining improvements to the fence are completed. • t <br />'Wicton'alCammDev\Pemn tsTomplaints%RCA _21 ohanscyB1vd_ 101303.dac <br />INCA -2199 Cohansey Blvd. Page 1 <br />
