J. <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />4 Consent <br />Item Description: Acceptance of Metropolitan Regional Arts Council Grant. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has awarded ed the city of Roseville a grant <br />for $8,000 to increase participation in the arts by Roseville citizens, particu lady <br />those groups that have not been involved previously. The grant application is <br />attached. The proposal is to develop a "Rose of Many Colors" part two m *ln i- <br />granting program involving Roseville residents. Part one of these programs <br />occurred in 2002 and was extremely successful. Part two will occur in 2004. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The attached proposal is consistent with the policy of searching out other public <br />and private resources to obtain funding to offset the casts of providing programs, <br />services and facilities for Roseville residents. It is also consistent with our efforts to <br />partner Frith other agencies. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br />Normally grants are available only if there are matching funds available. In this case <br />this particular grant does not require matching funds so the final financial outcomes <br />will be only the acceptance of $8,000 to provide the "Rose of luny Colors" part two <br />program series. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Based upon the goal of providing programs at an efficient cost to the commun4 <br />staff recommends that the city accept a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts <br />Council for $8,000 to develop a community arts program, "Rose of Many colors " <br />Part Two, featuring Roseville and area residents. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion authorizing the acceptance of a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts <br />Council for $8,000 to develop a "Rose of Many Colors Fart Two Art Series' <br />featuring Roseville and area residents. <br />
