Page I of I
BRUCE NELSON
From "BRUCE NELSON" <NEL EO'1 lVl N.00M>
To: <city.council @city. roseville. mn. us>
Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 08'.37 A
Subject: Curbside Leaf Collection
As a resident of Roseville since 1979, I have seen several city services improved and several
services removed. The first one that was removed was the annual city cleanup - -- although at the
time a free service - - -it was yanked away without a review. I'm glad It was attempted again this
past gear -- -arid I had no problem with the payment for the services, and I hope it will continue.
The leaf collection is one service that should not be removed. X have used it since I moved here --
-and enjoyed the times it was free, and am not complaining about the current fees. It's a bargain
and I'd pay more to have it continue. I think that since Roseville doesn't own garbage pickup, or
it's own recycling service, that a least one service beyond police, fire, and public works should
remain.
I guess I look at it this way, if the council can note to pay lawyer fees for situations that council
members get themselves into, that tells me that there is money available to continue with leaf
collection and annual city cleanup.
And on the subject of curbside recycling - -- -next time the council has the opportunity to re-
negotiate the contract -- -- -lets charge it so that we (Roseville) get something back. The
companies are making a tidy profit and Roseville and its residents are getting nothing. I recycle
my aluminum cans, and when I get: 3 very lame garbage cans full, I take therm in. seldom, have
I ever received less that $30 dollars for those. Multiply that by the volume that the recycle
company turns in, and you can see we are missing out on money that should be either returned
to those that recycle or to the city itself.
Bruce N. Nelson
2887 W. Owasso Blvd.
Since August 1979
08/12/2003
