Consider Parking Prohibition on Oakcrest Between Consider Parking Fairview and Fry Prohibition on Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, DENIAL of a Oakcrest Between resolution prohibiting parking on the north side and Fairview and Fry allowing parking on the south side of Oakcrest Avenue between Fairview Avenue and Fry Street. Council discussion items included residents' difficulties in backing onto the street at certain times of the day; historical accident counts; relocation of ri1311UOXe5 if parking was revised; and sign installations. Assistant Public Works Director Bloom brought to the attention of the City Council numerous written and verbal comments received after preparation of the Council packet; with the overall consensus being to leave the parking on the north side as is the current practice {responses were received from residents at 1782 Oakcrest; 1770 Oakcrest; 1716 Oakcrest; an Aldine residence north of Oakcrest; 2544 Hershal Street; and 1728 Oakcrest }. Mike Pedersen; 1790 Oakcrest Mir. Pedersen spoke against the petition for prohibiting parking on the north side. Mr. Pederson provided historical information from 19$6 when the residents had initially decided as a group that parking would be better on north side of street; and stated numerous rationale for continuing current practice. Mr. Pedersen addressed visibility concerns at intersections due to illegal parking. Jennifer Sprague, 2578 Aldine Ms. Sprague provided written comment as a bench handout from another neighbor unable to be at tonight's meeting. Ms. Sprague, as the initiator of the petition, reviewed her rationale, specifically related to safety issues.
