Consider Parking Prohibition on Oakcrest Between Consider Parking <br />Fairview and Fry Prohibition on <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, DENIAL of a Oakcrest Between <br />resolution prohibiting parking on the north side and Fairview and Fry <br />allowing parking on the south side of Oakcrest Avenue <br />between Fairview Avenue and Fry Street. <br />Council discussion items included residents' difficulties in <br />backing onto the street at certain times of the day; <br />historical accident counts; relocation of ri1311UOXe5 if <br />parking was revised; and sign installations. <br />Assistant Public Works Director Bloom brought to the <br />attention of the City Council numerous written and verbal <br />comments received after preparation of the Council <br />packet; with the overall consensus being to leave the <br />parking on the north side as is the current practice <br />{responses were received from residents at 1782 Oakcrest; <br />1770 Oakcrest; 1716 Oakcrest; an Aldine residence north <br />of Oakcrest; 2544 Hershal Street; and 1728 Oakcrest }. <br />Mike Pedersen; 1790 Oakcrest <br />Mir. Pedersen spoke against the petition for prohibiting <br />parking on the north side. Mr. Pederson provided <br />historical information from 19$6 when the residents had <br />initially decided as a group that parking would be better on <br />north side of street; and stated numerous rationale for <br />continuing current practice. Mr. Pedersen addressed <br />visibility concerns at intersections due to illegal parking. <br />Jennifer Sprague, 2578 Aldine <br />Ms. Sprague provided written comment as a bench <br />handout from another neighbor unable to be at tonight's <br />meeting. Ms. Sprague, as the initiator of the petition, <br />reviewed her rationale, specifically related to safety issues. <br />
