Page I of I
Bloom, Deb
From: Judyphil@aol.com
aol.co
Sent: Monday, July 14, 2003 9:51 PIVI
To: deb.bloom @ci.roseville.mn.us
Subject: No Parking Petition
My husband and N live at 1 810 Oakcrest Avenue. we were asked to sign) the petition but we declined for the following
reasons
We are located on the south side of Oakcrest adjacent to Fai r% iew Avenue. our driveway is adjacent to Fairview Avenue
which is a very busy street. was the letter dated 7/10/03 incorrect in stating where the No Parking restriction is? The No
Parking restriction currently is on our side of the street.
We currently have trouble getting out of our driveway because of the traffic entering onto Oakcrest from Fairview. There
is also a lot of traffic coming from the West up the hill on Oakcrest to enter onto Fairview.
Because of the current No Parking restriction on the South side of Oakcrest, we do have a clear view of the traffic coming
up the hill westbound on Oakcrest to Fairview. We have to rove quickly out of the driveway if there is no traffic corning
up the street so we don't get hit by traffic turning from Fairview onto Oakcrest.
If the No Parking restriction is moved to the North side of Oakcrest, it would be more difficult if not impossible for us to
exit our driveway safely at all because of the traffic from both directions. lies, I guess we could "edge" out too to look for
the traffic corning up the hill and while we are doing that, we could get hit by traffic turning from
Fairview. There are a few seconds when we need to make the decision to back out and because we can see the traffic
coming up the hill, this decision is made more easily. I'm sure some of the residents who live in the neighborhood have
on more than one occasion had to wait for us when we were backing out of our driveway.
Also, what about the mailboxes? How will the -nail be delivered if there are vehicles parked in front of the mailbox? will
the mailboxes be moved to the North side? Will we have to cross this busy street to get our mail and tape the chance of
getting hit by a fast moving vehicle?
Why net try to enforce the parking restriction with regard to how far a parked vehicle must be from a corner. This might
help increase the visibility for those who say they must "edge out" from a side street to eater onto Oakcrest.
Thank you.
Mr. & Mrs. Bob Philipps
1810 Oakcrest Avenue
7/17/2003
