This program was developed by Michelle
Lichtig, Roseville Living at Home /Block Nurse Program
Director, as a response to the need for delivered meals
on Sundays. To date the Roseville Living at Horneffi#ock
Nurse Program serves 13 meals every other week. The
meals are made at the St. Anthony care Center and then
picked up and delivered by a care group of eight
volunteers.
Often meals on wheels is the first community service
older adults, and having access to a hot meal on Sunday
rakes life easier on may different levels. The Roseville
Living at Home/Block Nurse Program is the first local
program to create a way to meet this need on the
weekend. Typically meals on wheels programs are not
able to meet the need on weekends and holidays
because of lack of funding.
Proper nutrition has been proven to reduce many
different medical issues and can be a significant factor
when individuals and families decide if an individual is
able to live in the community. once some service is
accepted by an older adult other services such as home
health aides and public health nurses follow with little or
no apprehension or change in routine for the older adult.
Dinner on Sunday continues to grow each month,
Donations are accepted which are applied to the cost of
the meal.
